As i was going downhill, the road surface was uneven. I attempted to apply the brakes. The pedal went almost to the floor as if there was no brake fluid. The car continued to go forward as the brakes did not engage. As i pushed the brake pedal further, the brakes engaged. *jb

2010 toyota prius i've had at least 2 experiences where under hard braking and transitioning to different levels in road surface, the vehicle has lurched forward. When this occurred, each time, i thought i had been hit in the rear causing my vehicle to be pushed forward. I blogged other owners, and have been trying to get an answer for a few months. I saw the recent news on prius brakes and feel this is what's…

My husband and i have both experienced the braking issue for the 2010 prius. When we compared notes, we found that we lose control of the brakes when we drive over a small manhole cover near our house. I have also experienced this when driving/braking over a pothole. Initially we thought we were experiencing the "slipping" motion because of unfamiliarity of new car brakes. *jb
